Motown’s Berry Gordy to Be Honored at Urban Network Music-Entertainment Summit; Actor Danny Glover & Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame to Host Dinner Gala Kicking Off 4-Day Event

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ — Legendary music executive and founder of Motown Records, Berry Gordy, will be in attendance at the Urban Network Music-Entertainment Summit’s Awards Gala, Saturday evening, March 14, 2009, at the beautiful Pacific Palms Resort in Industry Hills, California.

Urban Network will honor Mr. Gordy’s career achievements in tribute to Motown’s year-long 50th Anniversary Celebration. Invited recording artists from the Motown label, in addition to executives past and present, are expected to attend the event.

Mayoral candidates prove their worth for Detroit’s top job in online debate

DETROIT – Candidates running in the special election to replace former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick prove their worth in a cyber-debate on Wednesday February 18 at 9 P.M.. The debate is sponsored by Positive Detroit, a non-profit dedicated to promoting positive news, events and entertainment in and around the city.

The debate will take place live on its website www.PositiveDetroit.org. All of the candidates on the February ballot have been invited to give a two minute introduction about themselves and what they plan to do to make Detroit a better place. Marcus Burrell, COO of Ultra 1 Holding Group and financial advisor at Waddell & Reed Inc. – a publicly traded investment company, will serve as the moderator for the evening.

Yeah 08 had its ups and downs but we got through it.  So lets keep up that Can Do attitude and make 09 a year of positive growth and transformation for us all..

If it’s not in use, unplug it! My mother and I took the Unplug Challenge and we saved money on our energy bill. In one month’s difference, my mother’s bill was lowered by $22.00 while my energy bill was $33.00 less then the previous bill. How we did it? We unplugged most devices that were not is use. I had a bad habit of leaving my cell phone charger, toaster, and blender plugged to the outlet while not is usage. Little did I know that if cords are in the outlets, it pulls energy although it is not being utilized. So the first week, I unplugged the toaster, and one television that is not used often. The second week, I got a little more vigilant and unplugged the washer and dryer after I was done using it, all TVs after it was not being used, and the microwave. It really does not put me out of my way to unplug or plug the appliances when needed. Especially since in one month’s time, I save the equivalent to almost a tank of gas.
